Pictures and information brought to you directly from brezerkfury herself!
Saturday at NYCC 2015 will forever be known as the day of MANGA!
The day got off to an impressive start with the Yen Press Industry Panel. The main announcements that would catch the eyes of Toonami fans would have to be the the acquisitions of Space Dandy and The Boy and The Beast.
For those of you not familiar, Space Dandy is about 'a dandy guy, in space," who travels the galaxy hunting down unknown and previously unregistered alien species for cold hard CASH(woolongs)! The story for the Space Dandy manga will be written by Masafumi Harada. The art is a collaboration between Sung-woo Park and RED ICE. Space Dandy is expected to release in Spring of 2016. So until then, stay dandy baby!
The other release is The Boy and The Beast! Spawned from the hit movie directed by Mamoru Hosoda (SummerWars) the manga will be handled by Renji Asai. But that's not all the news for The Boy and The Beast. A novel is also in the works for the title. No word yet if the manga or novel will follow the story told in the film. Both the manga and the novel of The Boy and The Beast is set to be released Early Summer 2016!
Kodansha Comics Panel had plenty of new titles to talk about, but of note to fans of Toonami has to be the addition of Spoof on Titan. Spoof on Titan is a playful comedy that parodies the hit manga, Attack On Titan.
Then there's i Am Space *Dandy (aka Ore Space Dandy). There is only ONE volume planned…so far. So if you're a fan be sure to pick this title up to show the publishers that we want more Space Dandy! The different from this manga and the Yen Press title is that this contains stories that the creators were NOT able to include in the show! This is a must have for any Space Dandy fan! No release window was given at the time for either titles.
In the Aniplex of America Industry Panel there was a mega ton of news for those of you who fancy themselves some SwordArt Online, mainly regarding BD/DVD releases.
Finally, just in case you thought they were pulling your leg, SwordArt Online Movie Project is indeed confirmed to be in production, and rest assured it's fully animated.
Last but certainly not least was the FUNimation Industry Panel. Full of a bunch of reminders for FUNimation's streaming channel and already announced soon to come DVD releases but then there was just one more thing…. After almost a year of waiting, the time has come! FUNimation is FINALLY gonna release Evangelion: 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo on 2.2.16! Coming to both DVD and BD. No theatrical release is planned.
