Hey guys Inu here one of the new members of Toonami Squad today I want to address Onepiece. When Toonami came back many people wanted dbz, naruto and onepiece come 2013 wish granted Onepiece is back at 1:00 am a great time slot for it however not everyone was happy about it. The staff decided since Onepiece is such a long show and they already showed a bunch of the older episodes on the Cartoon network Toonami this time around were starting at episode 207. This decision had mixed feelings from all the faithfuls. In one way its great episode 207 onepiece is now airing in Hd and they don't have to air older stretched episodes yet at the same time many want to watch onepiece from the beginning and a lot of us haven't seen skypeia or other older arcs so this is a problem already. Despite starting in the 200's onepiece still did alright in ratings and even got a lot of promotion but due to newer shows and schedule decisions onepiece later in the year moved to 1:30 and in 2015 after the block was cut in half onepiece had the sad fate of moving all the way to 2:30 am.
We were not happy about this decision and thus begun a lot of panic over will Toonami get rid of Onepiece. While it sucks that onepiece is on so late and that Attack on titan reruns on many occasions do better than it for being on at 2:30 Onepiece still pulls good numbers in fact I honestly think it does better at 2:30 ratings wise than it did when it was on at 1:00 and 1:30. I don't think Onepiece will leave Toonami however nothing is set in stone and one thing I do see happening is Onepiece getting moved to 3 am. Let me be very clear I am not a huge op fan but I do enjoy the show I don't think it deserved to get moved to 2:30 and I sure as heck don't want 3 am Onepiece. Right now attack on titan a rerun is holding down 3 am while it might just be replaced by another rerun like dandy, gits or even klk there is always a chance that a new show could replace titan. If such a thing happens what do you think the staff would do? Sure they could play said new show at 3 am but new shows should always be on at the earliest time slot which makes sense they would likely put this new show on at 2 am which means onepiece would get put at 3 am (no I don't think see shippuden getting put at 3 am over op because Naruto has done good since day 1 and has pulled a mill at 2:00 am many times) Yes I would rather have a new show replace titan but at the same time I don't want 3 am onepiece if only we still had 11:30. As of right now there has been no news of what's replacing titan reruns or any new schedule changes aside from parasyte coming in October at 1 am.
The future is unknown while anything can happen its best to stat positive and keep watching. Onepiece isn't going anywhere even it does move to 3 am at some point as long as people watch it Onepiece will never leave Toonami. That's all for now Banzai!

Mmm... Very true. A lot of people don't realize it, but One Piece is actually vital to the block. Out of all the shows on the block, One Piece is the most comedic and lighthearted of them all. Toonami's only requirement is that it has to have action, but the block has always have a fine balance between Dark, Serious and Humor. And One Piece fits the mold perfectly. It gives you a break from all the dark edgy seriousness and gives a bit of a breather. Not only that, but it's a long running series, meaning it's cost effective. Getting another more episodes of the same show usually ends up costing less than having to struck a deal for a brand new show. One Piece may not be the hit they hoped for, but like it or not, it's one of the most important shows in the entire lineup.

I think 2:30 is a perfect time slot for One Piece in my opinion. I also thought it was a smart move to move it up a few hundred episodes since they did show it way back when. Though my friend and I actually watched the Water 7/ enies lobby arc already by the time One Piece came back to the new Toonami....my friend and I actually skipped that filler in between Skypeia and Water 7. But I can see why we skipped that I thought it was entertaining, but I think it would benefited from just going into the Water 7 arc instead of leaving starting it with the Foxy pirate games. What i think though too that would help one piece as well is if Toonami skips the filler flash backs when they show up, I noticed that one piece took a big tip when that happened during the Enies Lobby arc they should just keep the plot along unless it's a weekend of like marathon of flash back saturday or something like that. I don't think One Piece is going anywhere though, Toonami fans do love the show as much as the ratings may have or may not show, it's also one of the most popular, I think 2:30 or 2:00 One Piece will remain and the 3:00 will be re airing of a I guess in the trend of the previous shows that have been placed in that slot Attack On Titan, what was revealed today Kill La Kill, a who's popularity improved as the show went on. I don't know regarding Naruto though, the worst I can see is Naruto and One Piece maybe constantly switching between time slots depending on how good the arcs are doing ratings wise. But again I don't think we have anything to worry about One Piece being removed, One Piece will never end, or be removed!

That being said, I also wanted them to start on episode 1. I knew that a lot of people have not seen the series in many years. Maybe even since the 1st Toonami broadcast. Or even not as all since the Bring Back Toonami movement attracted both old and new Toonami fans alike. I understand why Toonami started in Long Ring Long/DavyBack Fights but still, I couldn't help but be wanting of something more. I know a lot of the crew that I hang with have not seen One Piece but for what has been shown on the Adult Swim Toonami broadcast. And that can make it difficult to get the whole 'Toonami experience" of live tweeting with your friends and being in the conversation, getting in on the hype of whats happening and whats to come. A lot of people just tune out and do not support the show, and I can understand that. I hate watching a show halfway through. I need to be their from episode ONE or not there at all! I thought that maybe if Toonami started at Episode 1 and then literally EVERY holiday just played One Piece it would have been fine. But now I'm not so sure. People don't really tune in for Holiday broadcasts (unless it's Attack on Titan) and even then, Toonami is gaining new viewers every week.. So we would be in the same boat we are in today. I know to acquire the license to broadcast One Piece from FUNImation must have cost a pretty (but I'm pretty sure FUNI gave Toonami a sweet deal) so I do not see One Piece leaving the block anytime soon. I say if you like what you see from the Toonami broadcast maybe you should think about catching up. Ehh I'd say it's fine. Not to long ago it was the 6 hour challenge. I think getting moved to the back of the toonami block isn't as big a deal any more. but i dunno again just repying for replyings sake.
